Designed, tested, and refined here at Juno 106 HQ. We have been installing and calibrating these chips for close to a year now and couldn’t be happier with how they tune up and sound. They are designed to sound and function as close as possible to the original Roland parts (using the same 3109 and 662 ICs) and they are totally indistinguishable sonically, making your Juno sound just like it did in 1988.
We recommend the original 106 voices always be replaced with new parts as a complete set of 6. Due to the failure mode of the factory parts they will all fail in time. Removing, soaking, and peeling the original boards can work for a time but the the issues usually return. Better to replace them once with a set that will last the life of the synth once you’ve done the challenging job of removing them.
