We occasionally work on an assortment of other gear, with some strict exceptions.
Do it once, do it right
There is a commonly-held belief that older gear is inherently less reliable than its modern equivalents, that choosing “vintage” is a headache subscription. This long-held idea understanbly comes from the fact that many choose to repair older equipment in a ‘band-aid’ fashion - covering up symptoms with cheap, temporary fixes rather than addressing issues at their source.
Properly repaired and restored with a foundational approach, the simpler and much better-documented professional gear of the past will sound great and run reliably all day long and easily outlive most new equipment on the shelf today.

Shook Sound is located on the scenic and bustling East Vancouver waterfront, on the traditional territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam First Nations.
Around here there’s always lots of gear to fix so to help keep the wheels turning we do not have a shop phone line. Repair and purchase inquires are handled strictly by email or messenger.

TECHNICIAN / SECRET WEAPON
If you’re local to Vancouver there’s a good chance you already know Elan. His deep knowledge of music and gear is built from decades on the scene as an in-demand hardware-based producer, performer, and DJ. Elan started helping out early last year and his careful and thoughtful approach quickly made him an indispensable part of the shop. The same ears that make ESB tracks sound so good seem to give him a special touch when listening for subtle problems, or voicing instruments and gear to sound their best.
